Ibrahim Umar (Community Health Officer and Director Health and Human Services of YES from Nigeria – YES Rep)

Dr Umar Ibrahim is a Community Health Officer and Director Health and Human Services from Yes in Bauchi, Bauchi, Nigeria.
A short introduction: I was borne and brought up in Nigeria. I have several years of progressive experience in both clinical and preventive health services, which include facilitation, research and community services across Africa, Asia, and Pacific. I obtained a PhD in Global Health Governance, Masters in Public Health (MPH); Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health (PGDPH), Post Graduate Diploma in Public Admin (PGDPA), Graduate Diploma in Accident & Emergency Nursing (A&E), BSC Nursing, Registered Nurse (RN), and Community Health Extension Work (CHEW) in addition to several off-line and on-line self-development courses. I worked in both private and public institutions, as well as in non-governmental organization and academic institutes. I was at different stage of my carrier served as a researcher, coordinator, facilitator, administrator, manager, clinical practitioner and instructor, M&E personnel, sanitary inspector, supervisor and consultant. I am currently a Lecturer in the community medicine department of Federal University Dutse, Jigawa state, Nigeria. I travelled extensively around the globe and I was opportune to visit several countries in the course of my career. I have invested previously much of my time in humanitarian services that includes hard-to-reach community interventions in the areas of health, education, nutrition, immunization, environment protection, and research activities, whilst living with disability. I am passionate on keeping up to date professionally, team work and dedication to duty.
Umar’s interest in AfroPHC: To contribute my quota toward developing and positioning Primary Health Care in Africa and beyond, for better service delivery in line with universal standard and practice..
