Umar Ibrahim

Umar was born and brought up in Nigeria. He spent several years of progressive experience in both clinical and preventive health services. He obtained a PhD in Global Health Governance, Masters in Public Health (MPH); Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health (PGDPH), Post Graduate Diploma in Public Admin (PGDPA), Graduate Diploma in Accident & Emergency Nursing (A&E), BSC Nursing, Registered Nurse (RN), and Community Health Extension Work (CHEW) respectively, in addition to several offline and online self-development courses. He has also worked in public, private, civil society organizations and academic sectors: Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State; Health and Human Services Secretariat, FCTA – Abuja, Nigeria; International Health Management Services Limited, Lagos, Nigeria; Nigerian Navy; and Bauchi State Ministry of Health and Human Services; as well as in Abubuwa Societal Development Initiative, a non-governmental organization; International Institute for Global Health, Malaysia and Institute for Sustainable Futures, Sydney, Australia. The highlighted work experience and academic background enables him understand the prerogative of primary healthcare system and research processes and procedures. His experience working in Africa, Asia and Pacific made him an ideal AfroPHC EXCO candidate.

Ted Omwenga

Ted is a licensed medical officer with a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and also a AHA certified ACLS/BLS provider. He currently serve as a medical officer at Avenue Healthcare serving in various satellite clinics as well as the intensive care unit. Additionally, he is a director of a home-based care organisation known as On-Call Homecare where they provide clinical services to patients and also offer patent attendant education. He is a concierge and tele-medicine consultant under Ponea Healthcare platform and a chief medical officer under a non-profit organisation known as Help-A-Child-Face-Tomorrow, engaged primarily in free reconstructive surgeries in Kenya and Africa at large. He is a Primary Health Care champion evidenced by his bio above and would like to have the opportunity to lead and impact. AfroPHC offers this prestigious opportunity.

Innocent Somboi

Innocent is a clinical officer and health systems specialist. He is a skilled, quick learning, hardworking, multitalented, result oriented individual fit in a team while making valuable contributions and calm under pressure. He is open to learn new things and continual development to ensure he delivers efficient and excellent results. His career objective are to obtain and secure a position in a growth oriented, esteemed managing institution that will expose him to challenges and enable him to use his ability and skills acquired from his experience in Clinical Medicine and Health System Management and his professional trainings for the better of Africa and world. He wants to lean more and serve the community of Africa and world in general. His education background is as follows; Completed Diploma in Clinical Medicine (DIP.MED) at Sengerema Health Training Institute, Mwanza; Tanzania. Completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting (B.COM ACC) from the University of Dodoma, Tanzania. Completed a Masters of Science in Health Systems Management (MSc.HSM) from Mzumbe University, Morogoro, Tanzania. He is currently studying for his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at the University of Dodoma. He is currently working as a Doctor and Health facility in charge at Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC), Medical Department, supervising all health activities for TRC at Dodoma region.

Mercy Wanjala

Mercy is a member of the AfroPHC Executive Coordination team running the monthly Policy Workshops. She is a member of the AV-HCP ECHO Advisory Committee on Adult immunization, standing for AfroPHC. She is the WONCA Rural Seeds Ambassador Africa and a member of the WONCA Working Party on Rural Practice Executive Council. She is the immediate former Honorary Chair at Kenya Medical Association Embu division. She is currently a Family Medicine resident at the University of Havana, Cuba. She is an MBA in Healthcare Management Candidate at the Strathmore Business School, Kenya. She is originally from Kenya where she received her MBCHB at the University of Nairobi School of Medicine. She volunteered as a Global Coach at the Institute of Healthcare Improvement Open School where she supported Open school chapters in the development and implementation of quality improvement and patient safety projects.
